The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in Banja Luka with the President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Srpska Ranka Mišić.

The President of the Republic of Srpska expressed the expectation that this year the average salary will increase to 1,000 BAM and the lowest to 500 BAM in Srpska.

The President Cvijanović stated that she firmly supports the adoption of a general collective agreement in Srpska and the implementation of all items from the Memorandum on Joint Measures between the Government and the Confederation of Trade Unions that was signed for the period 2018-2020.

The President of the Republic highlighted that it is necessary to overcome the misunderstandings and to sign the general collective agreement, because such a contract represents the basis and should regulate mutual relations and guarantee the rights of workers.

“I am pleased that some of the laws stemming from the Memorandum have already been adopted, and some should be referred to parliamentary procedure, such as amending the Law on Labor”, it was added by the President of Srpska.

The President Cvijanović said that it is a great challenge to increase employment and salaries in the Republic of Srpska.

“There is a problem that a large number of workers have the lowest incomes, because they are registered at the lowest salary, and the rest they get in cash. We have to come to a decision to stop it and to sanction the one who is to blame for it”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska expressed satisfaction that during the mandate of the new Government of the Republic of Srpska, the salary was increased in education by eight percent, as well as the salaries to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska with secondary education.

The President Cvijanović expressed the belief that the Government, together with the Trade Union and the business community, could come up with a solution which is applicable in practice.
