The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attended today in Banja Luka the marking of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organised by the Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Iskra”.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stressed the importance of raising awareness of the population in Srpska of the importance of regular health prevention examinations, timely detection and treatment of breast cancer.
The President Cvijanović said that everyone in Srpska must work together since this disease is increasingly “attacking” the younger population.
“Women need to take more care of their health because they are the most vulnerable to the disease. We should also help in raising awareness of breast cancer with encouraging women to have the courage to undergo screening because it is easier to treat it if it is detected on time”, said the President Cvijanović.
Today, the President of the Republic, together with public figures and representatives of “Iskra”, shared flowers and breast cancer prevention leaflets to the citizens.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that everyone must take care of their health and noted that the non-governmental sector and civil society are also partner institutions in this field with the aim of improving the conditions for treatment of people.
In this regard, added the President Cvijanović, numerous hospitals and renovated health centres were built throughout Srpska.
“We continue these activities where necessary, we also work on educating health workers and increasing salaries. It is a comprehensive action”, explained the Republic of Srpska President.
