Republic of Srpska President Meets with Secretary of State of Maryland and Speaker of Maryland’s House of Delegates
The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović, within her visit to the United States of America, met with the Secretary of State of Maryland John C. Wobensmith and with the Speaker of the House of Delegates of the State of Maryland Adrienne A. Jones.
At the occasion, interlocutors assessed that possibilities and common interests exist to extend co-operation between Srpska and Maryland to a higher level, especially in the fields of healthcare, education and protection of the environment.
Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the co-operation between Srpska and Maryland in the field of healthcare, which is based on the protocol on co-operation signed by the John Hopkins University Hospital and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska.
At the meeting with Maryland officials, the President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that BiH is a decentralised state, and that the premise of her functioning and stability is the co-operation between different levels of authority, as well as the legitimate representation of the three constituent peoples at the common level.
After the meeting, Secretary of State Wobensmith informed President Cvijanović of the history and traditions of Maryland, as well as of the management and decision-making systems in this US state.
